این کتاب شامل سه مقاله از ژاک دریدا فیلسوف و نظریه‌پرداز مهم فرانسوی دربارة مسائل اخلاقی، سیاسی و زبان‌شناختی است که با عمل «نامگذاری کردن» مطرح می‌شود.
مقالة اول، تأملی درباب مسئلة جوابگو بودن، حس وظیفه و الزام برای مسئول بودن و حتی امکان پاسخگو نبودن که در ارتباط با اخلاقیات و سیاست‌های مسئولیت‌پذیری است.
مقالة دوم، مسئله و دشواری امر نامگذاری و امر غیر یا دیگر بودن را که الاهیات تنزیهی مطرح می‌کند در نظر می‌گیرد.
مقالة آخر، مسئلة فضا را بررسی می‌کند که در یونانی به آن خورا می‌گویند و دریدا آن را از تیمائوس افلاطون وام می‌گیرد.
